Izaak is a quick learner who has caught on in leaps and bounds during his time at Ridge Projects, says Director Jack Cooke.
“At only 22 years of age, Izaak brings an enormous level of organisation and leadership to the company. In the last 12-15 months, Izaak has progressed from being a closely monitored team leader, to running his own sites with multiple aspects of landscaping, subcontractors, and council inspections.”
With a background in horticulture gained working in the fruit industry in Nelson, Izaak has been landscaping for the last three years – and is passionate about becoming the best he can be.
“The passion to become better at my craft inspires me on a daily basis. I think I’m a great candidate for this competition as I manage a small team from day to day, creating art in the backyards of Wellington.”
Although he came to landscaping with a horticulture background, Izaak has embraced hardscaping and takes joy in his application of the craft – and says he can’t wait to chew the fat with his co-contestants on September 21!
“I pride myself on my carpentry skills and my leadership. I look forward to meeting people from all over New Zealand who share a common passion with me.”
Izaak is going into Young Landscaper to compete and to network, but boss Jack says that he isn’t there to make up the numbers.
“Izaak is a great candidate for Young Landscaper of the Year because he is an example of how quickly you can progress through the ranks if you apply yourself well.”
