Mitre 10 offers every product landscapers might need – from fencing to decking to plants

and everything in between

Sustainable fencing

Based in Marlborough, Repost has already repurposed almost 800,000 broken vineyard posts, just shy of 9,000 tonnes or 8,000km, into low-cost fence posts for Kiwi farmers.

CCA-treated timber posts are broken or pulled out for re-development each year in vineyards and orchards across New Zealand. Previously, these broken posts were stockpiled on vineyards, went to landfill or were wrongfully burnt. Repost gives them a second life!

The company’s recent appearance on Country Calendar really helped those customers still on the fence (pun intended!), as they got to see how they work, the volume of product they repurpose and their quality control process.

The posts are available in 1.6m and 1.8m lengths with both quarter rounds and half rounds available pointed or docked. Repost bundles them up and sells them to farmers, fencing contractors and Mitre 10 locations nationwide. They can be used for a large range of projects from stock fencing, garden edging, retaining walls to pest control or bird posts – the options are endless.

The posts meet H4 treatment industry standards and feedback to date that they provide value for money and are dry, durable, straight and hold the staples tight. Many back the larger sustainable message that when you buy a post, you are actively playing a role in promoting positive sustainable practices; every post sold is one less to landfill. Hundreds of Kiwis to date nationwide agree this is a product to go for, with many repeat customers.

Mitre 10 is pleased to back a sustainable company doing its part in waste reduction in New Zealand. Consider these posts for your next project!

Sustainable decking

Biowood decking is a sustainable and innovative solution for outdoor spaces, combining the natural aesthetics of wood with the durability and low maintenance of composite materials

Made from a blend of wood waste and polymer – 69% recycled Baltic pine fibres and 30% UVPC / additive mix – Biowood decking offers several advantages over traditional timber decking, while retaining the ability to move and check similarly to natural wood.

Additionally, Biowood decking is designed to be low maintenance, requiring no painting or sealing, and boasting only a 5% colour reduction over eight years. This makes it an ideal choice for homeowners and businesses looking to minimise upkeep, while maintaining a beautiful outdoor space. If desired, it can be sanded and re-stained to regain the original look.

Durability is another significant advantage of Biowood decking. It is resistant to mould and mildew, ensuring a long lifespan even in harsh weather conditions. The material is also fire retardant and water-resistant, providing added safety and reliability.

Unlike traditional wood, Biowood decking does not splinter, crack, or rot, making it a safer and more comfortable option for families and pets. Biowood decking is versatile and can be used in various applications, from residential patios and garden paths to commercial boardwalks and public spaces. Its lightweight nature makes it easy to install and it can be cut and shaped with standard woodworking tools, offering flexibility in design and installation.

In summary, Biowood decking combines the best of both worlds: the natural look and feel of wood with the enhanced durability and low maintenance of composite materials. It is an eco-friendly, cost effective, and aesthetically pleasing choice for any outdoor space.
